Doug and his wife, Lisa, met during their college days at East Texas Baptist University and married in 1990. They have three children: Rachel, Joel, and Sarah. After receiving his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) in Fort Worth, Texas, Doug pastored for nine years in Oklahoma. He has pastored First Baptist Church since 2001 and earned his Doctor of Ministry from SWBTS in 2005.
Q – Where were you born and raised?
A – I was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia and raised in Huntsville, Texas
Q – What was your first vehicle?
A – My first vehicle was a 1955 Ford truck that I bought from my dad (who had purchased the truck in Arkansas and drove to Huntsville, Texas!)
Q – Why do you love First Baptist Church?
A – People love one another in a real, honest, and accepting way.
