Mike has been minister of music at First Baptist Church since 1993.  He and his wife, Pam, are Texas natives and have three sons:  Justin and wife, Erin; Tim and wife, Kara; and Drew, an elementary school student.  Mike began his ministry while attending Stephen F. Austin State University.  After graduation, he served First Baptist Church, Vidor, Texas where he met and married Pam in 1977.  In 1981 he earned a Masters in Church Music and in 1985, a Masters in Music in Composition from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.  Prior to coming to Fayetteville he served First Baptist Church, Cleburne, Texas for eleven years.

Q – Where were you born and raised?
A – I was born in Alice, Texas; but grew up in Jacksonville, Texas. 

Q – What was your first vehicle?
A – My first vehicle was a 1962 Chevy II, bronzy gold with a white vinyl top my Dad and I added at his upholstery shop.

Q – Why do you love First Baptist Church?
A – Living away from all of our extended family, we have truly experienced “family” through our congregation.

Did you know . . .
I served four churches for almost twenty years prior to my ordination in 1990, and the first wedding I performed was that of my mother and my step-father one week later.
