We are so glad that your child is a part of our Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church!
Please know that we want to do everything that we can to make sure that your child is happy, safe, and comfortable. Around eighty-five percent of our ministry team is made up of wonderful volunteers who do their best to care for your child. We know that we cannot care for your child as you would at home because of the number of children God has blessed our church with, so please be patient with us as we care for your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Preschool Coordinator or the Minister of Childhood Education.
Policies for Parents
1. Parents or guardians should leave and retrieve children at the classroom door. No child will be released by a worker to another child. Children should be retrieved immediately at the close of each session.
2. A teacher cannot accept a child unless there are two teachers in the classroom. Parents may be asked to stay or keep the child with them until the second teacher arrives.
3. The preschool area opens 15 minutes before services or ministry events.
4. Parents will be issued a card to provide security and identification for their child. Cards must be returned at the end of the session before a child can be dismissed. Beepers are available for parents of babies & visitors. These may be checked out at the preschool reception desk.
5. The parents or guardian must be in attendance at a church function in order to leave children in a preschool room. If one of the parents is not involved in a planned program, that parent should care for the child at home.
6. Preschoolers, approved teachers, and preschool administrative staff are the only persons permitted in the preschool rooms once the session has begun.
7. Workers will not give medication to any child.
Illness Policy
For the protection of your child and other children, any child who appears ill cannot be accepted into the preschool department.
Symptoms of illness include fever, rash, heavy cough, extremely runny nose, green mucus discharge, diarrhea, or symptoms of any other contagious disease.
The child should be symptom-free for 24 hours before being brought to the classroom. If there is any question, please see the Preschool Coordinator.
